Francesco Colella

“To express beauty as an actor I have to be inspired by it too”

Interview with the actor co-protagonist of “Due piccoli italiani”, first opera interpreted and directed by Paolo Sassanelli

By Maria Lucia Tangorra

Many of you have seen him recently in the fiction “Il capitano Maria” (in prime time on RaiUno), others will have admired him on the stage. After a lot of hard work, Francesco Colella had the deserved opportunity of a co-protagonist role in the debut film by Paolo Sassanelli, presented in world premiere out of competition at the ninth edition of Bif&st – Bari International Film Festival. The actor spoke about himself very frankly, between acquired awareness and aspirations, including that of being more and more in a direct relationship with the public.

Francesco, let’s start with “Due piccoli italiani”, what did you feel instinctively?

I liked the script the first time I read it because it is the story of two marginalized people, who in some way live in a situation of insecurity. They are forgotten and I really appreciated that in the course of the film they were able to discover the possibility of a different life. They are not two conscious characters, they do not even know they can improve their lives because no one has taught them so I liked this poetic lightness so that to condition them was a light of hope different from the bad situation in which they were found.
