Honored to continue my work of spreading the good cinematographic culture in an extraordinary reality like that of Taormina: world previews and professionals of the sector will animate for a week the fascinating Ancient Theater. Silvia Bizio and me we are working on a valuable and exciting cultural operation, with quality content – screenings, masterclasses, meetings and debates – that can enthuse thousands of film buffs from all over the world, as for the past 64 years.

With Silvia Bizio and Videobank you presented the 65th edition of the TaorminaFilmFest on May 15th in Cannes: a brilliant opportunity for maximum visibility.
A great opportunity to promote a historical festival within an equally important festival on the world cinema scene. The news, announced during the press conference “Il grande cinema al Teatro Antico” in the Italian pavilion of the Hotel Majestic along Boulevard de la Croisette in Cannes, are many: from the presence of Nicole Kidman as guest of honor and of Oliver Stone president of Jury at the special Yesterday screenings of Danny Boyle on the Beatles, with Hamish Patel and Lily James, and of the highly anticipated film concert Amazing Grace with a young Aretha Franklin; the godmother of festival, Rocìo Munoz Morales festival and the TaoAward of the first evening to Nicole Kidman.

Who is Gianvito Casadonte?
In addition to his role as artistic director of the TaorminaFilmFest and the Mimmo Rotella Foundation Award at the Venice Film Festival, he is the founder and the artistic director of the Magna Graecia Film Festival; he is a cinema expert for Rai 1; member of the David di Donatello jury; superintendent of the Politeama Theater of Catanzaro. With Silvia Bizio co-director (that we interviewed in the previous issue), they make up a brilliant tandem definitely always winning.
