Marianne Boesky, nota galleria di Chelsea, New York, è presente con il suo elegante stand (459) a TEFAF, la migliore fiera del mondo che accoglie 7000 anni di arte e storia della bellezza.
Quindi si offre un interessate dialogo e scambio cromatico – temporale tra Thalita Hamaoui (1981,Brasile) e il gigante francese del 19esimo secolo Odillion Redon (1840-1916).
Orgiastico recupero delle forze naturali la prima, in una condensata, ma armonica visione sulla potenza e bellezza della natura.
Mentre per Odillon vige la conclusione che la vera dimensione dell’arte sia il sogno. Infatti Redon filtra la realtà attraverso la memoria e l’immaginazione, dando alla sua composizione una valenza evocatrice che va al di là dell’aspetto esteriore dei fiori.
Cresciuto da solo tra i boschi a causa di fragilità psicologica e una seria malattia mentale che provocava crisi epilettiche, Odillon fu grato all’amico e botanico prima all’incisore Rodolphe Bresdin che lo introdusse alla grandezza dell’opera di Dürer e Rembrandt.
Inoltre fu grato ad Armand Clavaud che gli trasmise la passione per i fiori, per la fisiologia vegetale. Infatti gli fece scoprire quel piccolo mondo visionario che emerge dal microscopio.
Ad esempio fu poi introdotto alle teorie di Charles Darwin e all’opera di Baudelaire, Poe e Flaubert, ai quali l’artista dedicherà successivamente delle raccolte litografiche, grazie anche a Gustave Moreau.
Questo innesto tra salute, natura, scoperta crea un grande ponte di riflessione tra l’arte, la guarigione e il benessere vissuto tra alberi, fiori e boschi.
Ed è lo stesso che con bellezza di Thalita Hamaoui di cui Marianne Boesky Gallery è lieta di presentare in dialogo con due pastelli di Redon per TEFAF Maastricht 2026.
Con una serie di nuovi dipinti di Hamaoui, la presentazione avvia un dialogo sul potere della natura, della memoria e del mito.
E allora attraverso le sue tele vivaci e caleidoscopiche, Hamaoui immagina paesaggi fantastici e rigogliosi che brillano di una ricca luminosità interna. Figlia di immigrati rumeni ed egiziani, Hamaoui è infatti cresciuta in Brasile, immersa nei paesaggi lussureggianti e verdeggianti del Paese.
Durante la sua infanzia, l’artista ha assorbito i racconti di sua nonna sulla Romania, sul folklore e sulle foreste infestate dai fantasmi.
Inoltre il paesaggio di queste storie ha assunto un carattere mitico e tropicale, mentre si intrecciava nella memoria di Hamaoui. Quando ha iniziato a dipingere, sono state proprio le storie di sua nonna a ispirare le tele. Ecco come questi racconti, tramandati di generazione in generazione, rivissuti più e più volte nella memoria dell’artista, animano le visioni di Hamaoui della natura tropicale con un senso indelebile di miticità.
Originale accostamento tra antico e passato, e contemporanea revisione di natura e mito, lo stand è da visitare e approfondire.

Moreover, it offers an interesting dialogue and chromatic-temporal exchange between Thalita Hamaoui (1981, Brazil) and the 19th-century French giant Odillion Redon (1840-1916).
The first is an orgiastic recovery of natural forces, in a condensed but harmonious vision of the power and beauty of nature. For Odillon, however, the conclusion is that the true dimension of art is dreams. Redon filters reality through memory and imagination, giving his composition an evocative value that goes beyond the outward appearance of flowers.
Raised alone in the woods due to psychological fragility and a serious mental illness that caused epileptic seizures, Odillon was grateful to his friend and botanist. In fact the engraver Rodolphe Bresdin introduced him to the greatness of the work of Dürer and Rembrandt. Then to Armand Clavaud, who passed on to him a passion for flowers and plant physiology. He also introduced him to the visionary world that emerges from the microscope.
He was then introduced to the theories of Charles Darwin and the work of Baudelaire, Poe. Also Flaubert, to whom the artist would later dedicate lithographic collections, thanks also to Gustave Moreau.
This fusion of health, nature, and discovery creates a powerful bridge between art, healing, and well-being experienced among trees, flowers, and woods.
The same is true of Thalita Hamaoui’s beauty, which Marianne Boesky Gallery is pleased to present in dialogue with two pastels by Redon for TEFAF.
With a series of new paintings by Hamaoui, the presentation initiates a dialogue on the power of nature, memory, and myth.
Through her vibrant, kaleidoscopic canvases, Hamaoui imagines fantastical, lush landscapes that glow with a rich inner luminosity. The daughter of Romanian and Egyptian immigrants, Hamaoui grew up in Brazil, immersed in the country’s lush, verdant landscapes.
During her childhood, the artist absorbed her grandmother’s tales of Romania. Furthermore, folklore and ghost-infested forests in the landscape of these stories took on a tropical character as it became intertwined in Hamaoui’s memory. When she began painting, it was her grandmother’s stories that inspired her canvases. These tales, passed down from generation to generation. They relived over and over again in the artist’s memory, animate Hamaoui’s visions of tropical nature with an indelible sense of mythicalness.
An original combination of ancient and past, and a contemporary reinterpretation of nature and myth, the stand is well worth visiting and exploring. As is all the beautiful art that surrounds us at Tefaf.
